Nope, I haven't posted my thoughts on HBP yet, but I certainly can. It was so late after the fact to have read it, that I wasn't sure anyone cared. But you're right, it would be good to do so because it would also give me an opportunity to compare notes. ;-)
No worries about the O.C. stuff. I got addicted to the ff while trying to avoid the HP ff. :-D Yu'll be pleased to know I'm considering using ATLB as my NaNoWriMo project to see how much I can push through. I've even already warned my beta. ;-)
The short version is that I definitely liked HBP better than OotP, but that it didn't cover as much as I'd hoped it would. I was really disappointed with how his friends, Remus and Tonks behaved, but intrigued by the Horcruxes. Interesting.
The Potions Professor wasn't too bad, but did get my hackles up with his tendency to play favorites. It brought back traumatic school experiences of my own. ;-)
I know there's more to Snape, but I can't help but feel that as a character, he could have been so much more complicated. Of course, that can be said of all of them, really. It's why I got into HP fiction in the first place. Here are all these rich, complex personalities and JKR only ever scratches the surface of them. I always seem to come away from finishing her books wishing she'd explored them more fully, but alas. That's been going on since the beginning. *g*
I'm glad DD took a more active part in Harry's life, and genuinely seemed to care. That went a long ways for me, but yeah... I finished the book wanting to smack Ron and Hermione around, and feeling like it was a good thing Remus wasn't designated backup Godfather, because he seemed totally useless.
:-D I'm dying to see GoF though. Have you seen the previews? They look fabulous!
