You know, this explains why he came back for Marissa. She's the one who needs him and he needs to be needed. It's fucked up beyond belief, but our boy is fucked up so it makes sense.
It's so sad that he doesn't see that they love him and need him - how worried Kirsten was that he wouldn't come back. At least he recognizes that he needs therapy, though understandably doesn't want to engage in it. :)
