I know it's been forever since I've posted anything. In my defense, a lot has happened in that time. I wrote a book, and have since been proofing. This, I've learned, is far harder than I thought it would be. I was used to the fanfiction posting process. When I did it chapter by chapter, and had it beta'd just prior to posting, it was easy. Of course, reviews were always a huge motivator to post, so it was a self-feeding process. ;-)

Sadly, I'm still proofing. I'm getting further, though. I discovered I set up a series of hurdles for myself, all of which were self-sabotaging and designed to stall me up. I do that entirely too much. I finally figured out that a lot of it has to do with the fact that when I'm the only one who has seen what I'm writing, its potential hasn't been defined. It could be a flop, but it could also be really good (or at least publishable). So I've sent off what I have proofed so far to my husband and my wonderful beta, as well as a local friend of mine. This is a big first step, and I think very necessary. I have to admit I'm shocked and proud of myself for having done it. Let the freeze finally be over!

I got laid off work a while ago, and just started a new job this week. This job involves lots of meetings and will keep me far more busy than my previous one did. I'm hoping the habit I'm trying to forge (I got up at 4 on Monday and 3:30 today) means I'll be able to make a place for writing where before I avoided it (proofing has made me neurotic... Well, okay, more neurotic than normal). I know I love to write, yet I haven't done it nearly enough for too long. Hopefully that's changing now.

I've avoided posting mostly because I was afraid to get wrapped up in fanfiction again. I *love* fanfiction. It gave me a home, and a forum to write where people could review my work anonymously and give me feedback I could finally believe was not biased. It also gave me far better episodes to read than ever I found in the canon series, or on television.

I know things are hard out there, and definitely scary. The company that laid me off is going under, and a lot of people are in a very frightening place. It's made me realize a lot of things. One of which is to treasure the things you do have, and the people who've impacted your life. So this is a blanket thank you to all of you out there. You've all made my life richer! I hope you all are doing well, or you at least are hanging in there! *hugs*

Nice to see you around these parts!!

Congratulations on writing the book! That's fantastic! I hope you get some good results from sending it out - keep us updated!

Here's hoping the new job treats you well too! And I am using far too many exclamation points in this comment!!!!! ;o)

So, take care, and good luck all around!!

Exclamations show lots of enthusiasm! ;-) Thank you! I appreciate it! See? I'm doing them now too. *g* I definitely hope for good things with the story. It's definitely a milestone as my first completed original fic.

The new job is definitely tiring so far. I don't thing I've gone to that many meetings in the last year, let alone the last three days! ;-) Still, I am crazy lucky to have found a job in this economy. Anyway, right back at you, my dear! Good luck, and I wish you the best! Thank you for replying!

It's always nice to revisit an old friend. Since I've enjoyed your work in the past, might I inquire what the general subject matter is of your book? And good for you for finishing it!

Hi there! Right back at you! I hope you're doing well!

Did you see Ryan's (I know, it's Benjamin, but he'll always be Ryan for me *g*) upcoming show? Southland (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1299368/) *g* I just saw a preview tonight, so when I saw your icon, I had to share. I suspect I may be the last to know, though. ;-)

It's a fantasy fiction story about a woman who encounters a dying man in an alley who seems to know her, even though she doesn't know him. He touches her face as she's trying to help him, and something happens so that she starts seeing the future. *g*

I appreciate that! I'm pretty pleased with it. I just didn't realize how difficult the proofing was. Yikes. I think I'll do it differently (chunk it out) next time instead. Still, even finishing it is a big deal! ;-)

I really appreciate it! It's nice to see you around as well! I hope you're doing well, and taking care!

I am anxiously awaiting the debut of Southland, having missed my TVBF immensely.

Your story sounds intriguing. Please let us know when it is available (note that I said 'when'...not 'if') I read first the E-Book of 2 of my flisters then purchased it in print so I hope to do the same for you!

Thank you! I love to hear that you've already done that. I definitely would adore being counted among those who have managed to get published!! I hope you have a great week!

Thank you very much! :-D You and me both! Change is always hard at first, but I'm definitely hopeful! I really appreciate the luck! *g* It's been hard for a while, so a little reprieve from the pressure goes a long way! *sighs with relief*

Take care!

Probably a wise decision. I, for one, would no doubt have selfishly tried to persuade you to keep writing ATLB. As it is I don't have to apologise for something I never had the chance to do, yay! :-)

You're getting up at 3:30 *AM*? Yoiks.

Good luck with both the job and the book! I'm pleased your life is doing well. If I had my way all of my favourite fanfic writers - I, too, *love* fanfiction, you see - would have nothing but good things happen to them.

I've definitely missed the give and take of writing fanfiction, too! It was hard for me to let it go, but I realized as long as I was doing fanfiction, I could never be published, so I made the break. I am sorry for leaving the story like that. I can't promise to get back to it any time soon, either, unfortunately. I outlined it all a long time ago, but some of it got totally messed up with the end of the series, so I'd have to do some revisions anyway. Still, at some point I may still take a whack at it.

4:30 today, but sadly, no proofing done. Just journaling. I do have a 3 day weekend, so hopefully I can tackle some of it then. *g*

I really appreciate the sentiment. It's been rough lately, but hopefully I'm on the upside now. I hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day, and thank you very much for everything! Take care of yourself, okay?

It's a bit late to be commenting, but what the hell. I haven't been online all that much myself, so I just now noticed you posted. :-p

Funny, [profile] nightwolfwriter and I were just talking about you the other day...wondering if you'd finished your manuscript and if you'd shopped it around for publication. I'm glad to know you're still writing. You definitely have the talent. :-)

I did!! Well, the first round, anyway. ;-) I hope you and [livejournal.com profile] nightwolfwriter are doing well!

Nope, I still have more cleanup to do, and then on to the cover letter. From there I'll venture into shopping it around. :-D

I really appreciate that. Thank you! Right back at you both!
